Monday, April 18, 2005 - Discussion on Starting Study Group

location: Microsoft, Waltham

April 18th, 6:45pm
Before the main presentation we will discuss starting a study group with people who are interested.

Our goal for this study group is to get into much more depth in some area of .NET than is possible in the monthly presentations.  Possible topics of study would include C# or VB.NET Programming Language, Windows Forms programming, Web Forms programming, .NET Framework programming, or Object Oriented programming.  There are good textbooks on each of these topics.  We would choose a book, read a couple of chapters each month, and meet just before the regular DotNetLearn monthly presentation.  The study group meeting would start with a short lecture on the chapters read, and the rest of the time would be used for discussion and questions.  The exact details will be determined by the skill level and interests of those who would like to join the study group.

DotNetLearn will provide professionals to help lead the group and help find answers to your questions.  A forum will be setup so you can communicate with DotNetLearn professionals and other study group members.  Members will be encouraged to help each other when possible through meeting discussion and the forum.

There are many things also expected of you.  You must purchase the book and have a version of VisualStudio.NET 2002 or 2003, or a copy of one of the Standard versions of a compiler (about $90 on Amazon).  ASP.NET programming will require you have at least Windows XP Professional.  Also, you will be ready to participate and motivated to learn!
